New names

Microsoft has renamed Microsoft 365 Copilot to Microsoft Copilot and Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat to Microsoft Copilot Chat. Microsoft's Danish purchase pages still use the old names, for example Microsoft 365 Copilot Business. They are the same products.

What you get at no extra cost: Copilot Chat

If your employees have a Microsoft 365 licence such as Business Basic, Standard or Premium, they have Copilot Chat. It can answer from the internet, read files you upload yourself and create images. Conversations are covered by Microsoft's protection of business data. In Outlook, Copilot Chat can also use the inbox, the calendar and meetings.

Copilot Chat cannot search across all your documents, emails and Teams conversations, and it is not built into Word, Excel and PowerPoint. For some roles, Copilot Chat is enough.

What a Copilot licence costs

Prices are per user per month excl. VAT. The first price applies with annual commitment, the second with a monthly subscription.

  • Microsoft 365 Copilot Business as an add-on: 135.80 DKK or 162.96 DKK. For businesses with up to 300 users.
  • Microsoft 365 Business Standard with Copilot: 151.97 DKK or 182.36 DKK.
  • Microsoft 365 Business Premium with Copilot: 206.94 DKK or 248.33 DKK.
  • Microsoft 365 Copilot for large businesses: 194.00 DKK with annual commitment.

From 1 July to 31 December 2026, Microsoft offers a promotional price of 116.40 DKK for Copilot Business. It applies for the first year with annual commitment and only to existing customers with a qualifying Business subscription. A monthly subscription costs about 20 % more than annual commitment. Check Microsoft's Danish pricing page before you buy.

Which base licence does it require?

Copilot Business is an add-on and requires one of these licences: Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Business Standard, Business Premium, Microsoft 365 Apps for Business or Teams Essentials. If you have more than 300 users, you need the edition for large businesses, which sits on top of, for example, Microsoft 365 E3 or E5.

What the paid licence adds

  • Copilot searches your own emails, meetings, chats, documents and SharePoint sites, with the permissions the user already has.
  • Copilot in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
  • Priority access and more advanced models.
  • Ready-made agents such as Researcher and Analyst.
  • An overview of how the licences are being used.

Because Copilot can see everything the user has access to, sharing in SharePoint and Teams has to be in order before you switch it on. Read about secure Copilot setup.

Data and the EU

According to Microsoft, prompts, answers and data from your Microsoft 365 are not used to train the models. Copilot follows the EU Data Boundary, so data from the EU is processed in the EU. There are two exceptions, which the administrator can turn off: models from Anthropic, which today sit outside the EU Data Boundary, and web search, which sends search queries to Bing.

Agents and Copilot Studio

Agents that your own employees with a Copilot licence use internally cost nothing extra. If an agent is to be used by people without a licence or published on your website, usage is billed in Copilot Credits. A capacity pack of 25,000 credits costs 1,293.40 DKK per month and is shared by the whole organisation. You can also pay as you go through an Azure subscription. Read about AI agents for businesses.

How to buy wisely

  • Start with Copilot Chat, which most of you already have.
  • Buy licences for the roles that write and hold the most meetings, not for the whole organisation at once.
  • Use the free trial month. It requires a credit card and converts automatically to a paid subscription, so set a reminder.
  • Measure after four to six weeks whether the licences are being used before you expand.
